Choosing your Coverage Option
Please select your desired level of dental care coverage from one of the four options provided. If you click on the information icon beside the option, a brief description of each option is displayed.
You may choose core, enhanced or premium coverage or you may decline dental coverage all together. If your spouse does not have similar coverage under another plan, you should choose coverage that provides sufficient coverage for you and your family.
Category Definitions
The category section defines your coverage status under the dental benefit and is defined as follows;
- single – you alone
- single +1 – you and one eligible dependent, either spouse or child
- family – you and two or more dependents
Termination of Coverage
Your dental care coverage ends on the earlier of retirement, termination of employment or age 70.
Important Note
Your selected coverage option will be locked in until January 1, 2022 unless you have a qualifying life event.
The following qualify as a life event:
- marriage
- common law relationship attaining 12 month co-habitation period
- divorce or legal separation
- birth/adoption of child
- death of a dependent (spouse or child)
- loss of spouse's coverage
Basic Dental Services
Basic dental expenses include, but are not limited to, exams and cleanings, x-rays, fillings, endodontics (root canals), periodontics (scaling and/or root planning), denture repair, and rebase or reline.
Major Dental Services
Major dental expenses, including inlays, onlays and crowns, complete and partial dentures, and bridgework.
Fee Guide
FlexLife covers expenses based on the amount listed in the most current dental association fee guide for general practitioners in the province where the expense is incurred, not on the amount you actually paid. The fee guide lists suggested fees for all dental procedures and is updated annually.
